1992: Teaches English at a shoe factory in Bratislava – Bratislava, Slovakia, After Cambridge she and a friend taught English to workers at the Baťa shoe factory, then cycled home from Prague to London on bikes bought from their students.
2008: Opens a bibliotherapy service at the School of Life – London, England, With Ella Berthoud she set up a bibliotherapy service, prescribing novels as remedies, in the basement of Alain de Botton’s new School of Life.
2009 – 2017: Moves to the United States – Toledo, United States, She moved with her partner and young son to Toledo, Ohio, and later to New Haven, Connecticut.
2017: Settles in Somerset – Somerset, England, She returned to England with her family and settled in Somerset, where she continues to teach.
