Lorraine Wilson
Lorraine Wilson is a novelist and conservation scientist who describes herself as a third-culture Burmese-Scot. She holds a PhD from the University of St Andrews and spent years as a research scientist in remote parts of the world, including fieldwork in the forests of eastern Europe and Russia, before ill health led her away from academic science and towards fiction. Her debut novel, This Is Our Undoing, set in Bulgaria's Rila Mountains, appeared in 2021, followed by The Way the Light Bends, Mother Sea and We Are All Ghosts in the Forest. The Salt Oracle, a standalone companion to the last, was shortlisted for the Clarke Award in 2026. She lives by the sea in Scotland.
