Matt Dinniman

Matt Dinniman is an American writer of science fiction and fantasy. His father served in the US Army, and he moved often as a child before the family settled in Tucson, Arizona, where he finished high school and attended the University of Arizona and Prescott College. He worked as an obituary writer in Yakima, Washington, and ran art booths at pet shows drawing animal portraits. When the pandemic shut the shows in 2020, he self-published Dungeon Crawler Carl, a dungeon-crawl adventure first serialised on the web-fiction site Royal Road; the series became a bestseller and was picked up in print by Ace Books. The first book was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award.
