Emily Itami

Emily Itami is a novelist and journalist who grew up in Tokyo before moving to London, where she lives with her family. She has written widely as a freelance journalist and travel writer. Her first novel, Fault Lines (2021), follows a bored, affluent Tokyo wife and mother who finds an unexpected new life opening up in the city she loves; it was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize in 2022. She has since published a second novel, Kakigori Summer.
